In I AM MACAW (originele titel: Eu Sou Uma Arara, of in het Nederlands: Ik ben een ara) reflecteert Rivane Neuenschwander op de impact van de vernietiging van het Braziliaanse oerwoud voor de inheemse bevolking.
Neuenschwander – algemeen beschouwd als één van de belangrijkste hedendaagse Braziliaanse kunstenaars – bedacht samen met filmmaakster Mariana Lacerda het idee om de vele protestbetogingen (de meesten tegen de ultrarechtse president Bolsonaro) te infiltreren met hun acties.
Tientallen als de Braziliaanse fauna en flora uitgedoste personages – de ene een kever, de andere een papegaai of een vlinder, en nog een andere als een zeldzame plant – mengden zich met protestborden met teksten als Cosmic Dancer, De ommekeer van Gaia of De oversteek tussen de gewone betogers.
De taal die links in de protesten gebruikt is altijd dezelfde, met de gebruikelijke buzzwords. Dit afgeleefde vocabularium probeerden we te veranderen, aldus Neuenschwander.
De soundtrack is gemaakt door O Grivo, een duo uit Belo Horizonte. Zij vermengden het geluid van de protesten met natuurgeluiden en een bevreemdende mix van snerpende violen, glockenspiels en gongs.

In I AM A MACAW (original title: Eu Sou Uma Arar, or in English: I am a Macaw), Rivane Neuenschwander reflects on the impact of the destruction of the Brazilian rainforest on indigenous populations. Neuenschwander, widely regarded as one of Brazil's most important contemporary artists, conceived the idea with filmmaker Mariana Lacerda to infiltrate the numerous protest demonstrations (most of them against the far-right President Bolsonaro) with their actions. Dozens of characters dressed as Brazilian fauna and flora - one as a beetle, another as a parrot or a butterfly, and yet another as a rare plant - mingled with protest signs reading Cosmic Dancer, Gaia's Turnaround, or The Crossing among the 'ordinary' demonstrators.
The language used by the left in the protests is always the same, with the usual buzzwords. We tried to change that worn-out vocabulary, Neuenschwander said. The soundtrack is composed by O Grivo, a duo from Belo Horizonte . They mixed the sound of protests with nature sounds and an eerie blend of shrill violins, glockenspiels, and gongs.
